Deputy Richens was dispatched to Ute Petroleum on a report of theft from a complainant, who stated that a 23-year-old employee, Raelee Allmon Potter, had been stealing from the store.
The complainant provided the deputy with video footage showing Potter leaving the store with a case of soda and cigarettes.
Potter had been stealing from the store for the last couple of months. The complainant informed Deputy Richens that she would investigate the incident further to determine its start date and provide the Sheriff's Office with a detailed list of the stolen items and their value.
Deputy Richens followed up with the complainant on July 15, 2025. The complainant reviewed the video footage and provided the deputy with a list and the value of the stolen items, totaling $1,635.
At approximately 3:50 PM, Deputy Richens contacted Potter by phone. Potter agreed to meet at the Roosevelt Police Department. When asked if she knew why the deputy wanted to speak with her, Potter indicated she knew it concerned stealing at work.
Potter admitted to stealing over the last couple of months, stating that the reason was to try to care for her daughter. She specified that she had been stealing cigarettes, vapes, and tobacco.
Potter claimed she offered to try to pay back the store or return some of the products she still had in possession.
Deputy Richens explained that this was not permissible and that she would be placed under arrest and booked into the Duchesne County Jail.
Raelee Potter is being charged with a third-degree felony retail theft.
