Vernal, Ut.- At around 10:30 am on 6/5/23, law enforcement was dispatched to a physical domestic in the area of 500 West Main Street.

Call notes said a female jumped out of a vehicle.

Officer McCurdy met with the victim, who said her husband, 29-year-old Michael Phillip Hilton, began arguing while driving. She told Officer McCurdy that Michael wouldn't allow her to leave the vehicle when she asked him to let her out.

Michael grabbed her arm and locked the car doors, not letting her get out, and continued driving. The victim stated Michael was driving erratically and estimated that he was driving 100 mph at one time.

The victim was able to unlock and jump out of the vehicle at the intersection of 500 West 100 South while the car was still moving.

The Officer saw multiple lacerations on her body from her hitting the asphalt. The victim told Michael to get away from her and started walking down the road.

Officer McCurdy spoke with Michael about what occurred inside the vehicle.

Michael admitted that he and his wife were arguing inside the vehicle but denied withholding the victim from exiting the car. Michael added when he pulled into the parking lot next to 41-year-old Theresa Suzanna Carter, she came up to the window, and punched Michael in the head. A spot of blood was found on the driver's side.

Theresa was transported to the Uintah County jail with assault charges.

Officer McCurdy determined there was enough probable cause that Michael committed the act of unlawful detention and was arrested and booked into the Uintah County Jail.
