At around 4:15 am, a female was being treated for two lacerations on the back of her head at the Ashley Regional Medical Center ER after being assaulted by her boyfriend, 25-year-old Carwin Chad Reed.

The victim told Sgt. Cannon that she and Carwin had gone to the bar earlier, and when they returned home, an argument broke out. After arguing for some time, the victim left the residence and went to a family member’s home.

Carwin began calling and texting her the entire time she was gone. The victim decided to return to her residence, where she told Carwin he needed to leave. He began packing up his things, and the victim grabbed one of his bags to put next to the door. Carwin then pushed the victim from behind and hit her in the back of the head with a plastic lamp with shelves in it.

The victim fell to the ground and briefly lost consciousness. When she woke up, her head was bleeding, and Carwin was telling her she needed to go to the hospital. The victim was able to get a washcloth for her head wound and drive herself to the hospital.

The victim stated that Carwin took her Dodge Durango and was likely in Ft. Duchesne. Carwin was unable to be located that morning.

Sgt. Cannon went to the victim's apartment and found the broken lamp near the front door. There were pieces of the lamp on the living room floor and in the trash. He also found a washcloth with blood on it inside the residence.

On 10/20/24, Carwin was pulled over in the victim's Durango, arrested on an active statewide warrant, and transported to the Uintah County Jail.

At the jail, Carwin was advised of his rights and asked to tell his side of the story, which had occurred two weeks prior. Carwin's statements were consistent with the victim's until the victim was hit in the head with a lamp.

Carwin acted as though he didn't know anything about it. He didn’t know why he lied about the incident and where he was when Sgt. Cannon called him on 10/6/24.

Carwin was booked into the Uintah County Jail for Assault (Domestic Violence) w/Substantial Bodily Injury, a Class A Misdemeanor.
