Officer McDavid with the Naples City Police Department was assisting on a shoplifting call at the IFA store in Naples when a male walked into the store and told the officer that some people were arguing at the Naples Self Storage, located at 1661 E 1000 S.
The male individual stated that three people were arguing, two males and one female. One of the males was wearing a backpack. Officer McDavid immediately left and proceeded to the storage units.
While the officer was driving, he noticed a male crossing the street from the storage units and walking down the road with a backpack on. The officer pulled to the side of the road and exited his patrol vehicle.
Officer McDavid asked the man what was going on. The male stated that he had been driven to Naples Self Storage by a female who was just trying to get him in trouble. The officer asked him what he meant by that, and he said that he had a protective order with the female, and they were not to have any contact.
The male stated that the female he had driven there with and another male who had arrived on the scene had tried to jump him and accused him of stealing a chainsaw. Officer McDavid asked him what he meant by getting jumped, and he said that the other two individuals became angry when they accused him of stealing from them, and that's when the yelling started.
While speaking with the male, a female on the opposite side of the street was walking in their direction. The officer recognized this female from previous law enforcement encounters. Officer McDavid did a quick pat-down of the male and placed him in the back seat of the patrol vehicle so he could speak with the female.
The female was identified as 41-year-old April Marie Patrick.
April stated that she was at the liquor store buying some things, and when she returned to her vehicle, the male was sitting in her car. April said she knew she had a no-contact order with the male, but she was scared of what he might do to her.
April stated she had taken the male to the Naples Self Storage in order to be somewhere with cameras just in case something happened. She told the officer that she had gotten out of jail earlier that day for a domestic violence incident involving the male.
April asked if she was going to jail, and Officer McDavid informed her that he needed to check on the status of the protective orders before he could give her an answer.
Dispatch informed the officer that a protective order out of Colorado listed April as the protected person and the male as the Defendant. Dispatch also informed him that a Jail Release Agreement No Contact Order was served earlier, on 10/21/24, when April was released from jail. The JRA had the male listed as the protected person, and April was the Defendant.
Officer McDavid returned to speak with April and informed her that the jail release agreement she signed earlier that morning was still active and that having contact with the male violated this agreement.
April was informed that she would be going to the Uintah County Jail for violating the protective order. She was placed in handcuffs and checked for tightness before double-locking for safety. A search of April was conducted, and she was then taken to the Uintah County Jail.
