An individual reported a theft at 75 South Main St. The complainant stated he needed medical surgery and placed a donation jar on the front desk counter at the Frontier Grill.
The complainant said he checked the jar on 10/31/24, and it had over $500 in it. On 11/2/24, he went to empty the jar, and it was gone.
The restaurant staff looked at their security cameras, and a male and a female had taken the jar of money. The staff gave the photos of the thieves to the complainant, who created a social media post on Facebook.
Over the next several days, Officer Knight received several tips on who the male and female were. A family member of the female called and identified the female as 34-year-old Alice Mae Howell.
Officer Knight used the photo of the female provided by the complainant, along with recent jail-booking photos of Alice, to positively ID the female, and it was Alice Howell.
On 11/06/2024, Alice was located and interviewed. She admitted to taking the money, and she was arrested and transported to the Duchesne County Jail.
Based on the affirmation of Officer Knight, the arresting officer, the undersigned magistrate finds that probable cause existed for the arrest without a warrant of Alice Mae Howell. Alice Mae Howell may post bail in the amount of $1,000.00.
