Vernal Man Arrested For Violation of a Protection Order. Five days later, he was arrested again for child abuse

Vernal, Utah—On Sunday, March 15, 2026, at around 10 pm, Vernal Police Officer McCurdy was dispatched on a protective order violation in Vernal, Utah.
Call notes sent from dispatch to the officers' on-board computer indicated that 20-year-old Jordan Jerry Stowe tried to contact the victim by phone from a 7-Eleven telephone at approximately 3 am on 3/15/26.
According to the protected person, she looked up the phone number and discovered it was for 7-Eleven on Vernal Avenue. She later went to the convenience store and spoke to an employee who said she was working during the time Jordan used the phone.
The female victim told police Jordan is currently on probation and is wearing an ankle monitor.
Officer McCurdy met with the store's employee, who confirmed she was working at the time Jordan came into the store. She stated that she noticed Jordan was wearing an ankle monitor and used the business's phone to try to call someone.
The officer viewed the security footage, and a male, Jordan, entered the store at 3 am and was seen wearing an ankle monitor and holding a phone. He enters and exits the store three times before he finally leaves at 3:15 am.
No Contact Order: Do not contact, phone, mail, email, or communicate in any way with the Petitioner and the people listed on this order, either directly or indirectly, except as allowed by the parent-time provisions of this order. Jordan intentionally and knowingly attempted contact with the Petitioner after being properly served in the Eighth District Court on January 09, 2025.
On Thursday, March 19, 2026, Jordan was taken into custody and transported to the Uintah County Jail.
Officer McCurdy went to the jail to speak with Jordan, where he confirmed he was the individual at 7-Eleven and used their phone on March 15. Jordan was confronted about why he called the female, and he responded, "I did? Why the fuck would I call her?"
Officer McCurdy said, “I don’t know why you would call her.” Jordan responded, “I don’t know.”
Jordan was booked on one count of Violation of a Protective Order with a domestic violence tag. Enhanced to a third-degree felony due to a prior third-degree felony conviction in 2025.
On March 20, 2026, Deputy Leishman was sent to investigate a child abuse report. The deputy arrived at a hotel and met with the victim.
The victim told the deputy the incident occurred a few days ago while she was driving with 20-year-old Jordan Jerry Stowe in the back seat. According to the victim, Jordan began making comments about her brother, which angered her. She stopped the vehicle, and when she turned around, Jordan hit her twice.
Deputy Leishman observed and documented a bruise on the victim's chin from being struck by Jordan. Photos were taken for evidence.
Deputy Leishman interviewed Jordan Stowe at the Uintah County Jail, where he was already incarcerated on an unrelated charge. The deputy read him his Miranda Rights, and he advised that he understood his rights and agreed to speak with her.
Jordan claimed he was "extremely intoxicated" on the night in question and remembered getting into the victim's vehicle, but could not recall who else was present. He acknowledged knowing that the victim's brother had passed away about ten years ago, but claimed not to remember saying anything about him. Jordan was unable to provide specific details about the incident due to his claimed intoxication.
Deputy Leishman determined there was probable cause to book Jordan Stowe into the Uintah County Jail on charges of child abuse, a class A misdemeanor, for intentionally or knowingly assaulting a 16-year-old minor.
