Vernal Man Arrested For Stalking and Threatening A Female

9/3/24

| Vernal, Ut. | August 31st, 2024 |

On 8/26/24, Officer Escobedo responded to a civil stalking violation detail in the area of 700 North 100 West.

The officer spoke with the Victim over the phone, who said 37-year-old Christopher James Kozisek had been sending her text messages nonstop and threatening her.

The Victim provided multiple screenshots of text messages between her and Christopher. Throughout the text messages, Christopher threatened to use the Victim's past against her in order to get their child taken from her.

Christopher also threatened to try to get information from the Victim about who was watching their child while the Victim was working. In the messages, Christopher was taunting the Victim about the men she may be dating, as well as speaking to the Victim about his sexual activity with another woman. Christopher also revealed to the Victim that he knew the address of the Victim's new residence.

The Victim expressed her concern for her safety due to Christopher's actions.

Officer Escobedo determined that Christopher Kozisek had violated the civil stalking injunction between himself and the Victim by annoying and threatening her in a way that would cause a reasonable person to suffer emotional distress and be afraid for their safety.

On August 31, 2024, officers made contact with Christopher Kozisek at Little Caesar's in Vernal. Christopher was arrested and transported to the Uintah County Jail where he admitted to sending messages that would constitute a violation of the stalking injunction.

The current offense is a Domestic Violence offense. The court finds substantial evidence to support the charge and finds clear and convincing evidence that Christopher James Kozisek would constitute a substantial danger to an alleged victim of domestic violence if released on bail.

Therefore, the court ordered that Christopher James Kozisek be held without bail.
