Two men get into a heated argument that turns violent

By Travis Uresk

Uintah Co. Ut.-On 8/1/23, Deputy Roth responded to a report of an assault, and when he arrived on scene, he spoke with the victim, who explained he and his stepson had gotten into a verbal argument over his stepson losing his job.

During the argument, 31-year-old Dylan Michael Flannery was reported to have left the residence and had gone to the camper located on the property where Dylan had been living for the past 8 months.

The victim stated that Dylan returned to the home and initiated the verbal argument. The victim reached out and tapped Dylan on the chin to get his attention and told Dylan that he needed to grow up and take responsibility for his actions.

At this point, Dylan grabbed the victim by the shirt and started hitting him in the face repeatedly with a closed fist. After hitting the victim, Dylan left the residence and the property. The stepfather explained that he and his wife had custody of Dylan's two children and another grandchild, all of whom were in the home at the time of the incident.

At the hospital, Deputy Roth saw the victim had severe swelling to his face and eyes with multiple open wounds to his nose and around his eyes. Both eyes were swollen and purple. While speaking with the victim, the hospital staff told them that the victim also suffered a fracture to his orbital bone.

Deputy Roth left the hospital and located Dylan at another family member’s home. When asked if he knew why the Deputy wanted to speak with him, Dylan stated it must have been about the fight between him and his stepfather.

The Deputy asked Dylan to explain what had occurred. Dylan said there had been a fight about him losing his job, and he explained that the victim grabbed him by his shirt. Dylan stated, "He was a man and didn't like being touched."

Dylan admitted to hitting the victim in the face twice and then left to separate himself from the situation.

Dylan was arrested, transported to the Uintah County Jail, and booked in for Assault and domestic violence.
