Vernal City Police received a report concerning an incident involving an 18-year-old male who orchestrated an assault against a 14-year-old male.

This incident occurred at Reynolds City Park, where 18-year-old Gianni Davis instructed a 13-year-old to strike the 14-year-old three times while preventing him from escaping with the assistance of other juveniles.

The assault was captured on video, which Officer Murray obtained from one of the teen's grandfathers. In the video, Gianni can be seen instructing the 13-year-old to hit the other teen who is standing defenseless.

The officer interviewed the two teens, and both reported feeling compelled to participate one juvenile was told to remain still or risk being jumped, while the other juvenile expressed that he felt unable to leave because of Gianni's threats if he didn't slap the 14-year-old he would allow the 13-year-old to fight alone.

Gianni sent the video of the assault to the victim’s 16-year-old brother, constituting electronic communication harassment.

On 10/24/24, Officer Murray followed up with Gianni and spoke with him about the assault. He denied having any knowledge as to why the juveniles were there but did admit to orchestrating the fight.

Officer Murray subsequently arrested Gianni and took him to the Uintah County Jail.
