A Uintah County Deputy was conducting routine warrant checks for issued warrants out of the 8th District Court for the Ballard, Fort Duchesne, Lapoint, and Tridell areas of Uintah County.
Another deputy advised Deputy Jones that a subject, 64-year-old Jerry Lee Serfoss, had several outstanding felony warrants out of 8th District Court in Vernal.
Deputy Jones verified these warrants through a records check and also learned that Jerry was a non-compliant sex offender.
The deputy knocked on Jerry’s camper door at 8100 East US-40 in the Country Village trailer park. Jerry answered and was advised he was under arrest. He was placed in two sets of handcuffs behind his back and escorted to the patrol vehicle.
After being transported to the Uintah County Jail, Jerry was read his Miranda Rights, and he agreed to speak with Deputy Jones.
The deputy specifically asked about his non-compliant sex offender registry violation. Jerry stated he was confused and thought he only had to register once a year, but he could have been mistaken.
Jerry was booked into the Uintah County Jail for his three warrants and for the charge of sex offender registry violation for not being current on his registration. Jerry's other felony warrants are for failure to register as a sex offender as well.
