Roosevelt Man Tells Officer, Seatbelts Are "Death Traps."

By Travis Uresk 11/26/23

Roosevelt, Ut. - On 11/14/23, at around 11:00 pm, Officer Christensen pulled over a vehicle whose registration indicated no insurance. The officer conducted the traffic stop at 100 North 700 East.

Officer Christensen knew the driver to be 24-year-old Boe Dee David from previous incidents. Boe was not wearing his seat belt, and he had a .22 rifle placed between the center console and the driver's seat.

Boe was informed of the traffic stop because his registration returned as not having any insurance, and then he was asked about not wearing his seatbelt. Boe said he never wears it because he believes seatbelts are "death traps."

The K-9 handler arrived to assist in the traffic stop to conduct a free-air sniff around the vehicle. The K-9 indicated on the vehicle, and Officer Christensen asked Boe if there was anything in the car they should know about. Boe stated there might be some old marijuana that spilled when he used to smoke.

While searching the vehicle, they found a small wooden box the size of a deck of cards containing marijuana. Upon checking the rifle, there was a live round in the chamber and one spare live round.

Boe David was transported and booked into the Duchesne County Jail.
