Police Work With AP&P To Find A Fugitive With A No Bail Warrant

6/15/24

| Uintah County | June 14th, 2024 |

On 6/14/24, Officer McGaha and Agent Ercanbrack were searching for an absconded fugitive with a no-bail warrant who failed to register as a sex offender.

The officer and the agent discussed possible locations where the fugitive could be when they were informed that 45-year-old Dusten Woodruff Anderson was possibly staying at 3150 East 5065 South in Uintah County.

On 6/15/24, Officer McGaha contacted another person regarding another case, which led the officer to the same address.

The officer arrived at the address in Uintah County and completed the initial reason for the contact. He asked the homeowner if Dusten was at the residence, and she stated he was out in the shed. The female escorted Officer McGaha through the house to the shed since there was no gate.

Upon approaching the shed, Officer McGaha observed Dusten, whom the officer had received a picture of and saw had facial tattoos matching the picture from AP&P. The officer observed that his hands were clear, and he was polite and cooperative. As the officer and the agent approached Dusten, he stated he was going to Adult Probation and Parole on Monday. The homeowner stated the same statement.

Dusten was told that he had a warrant, and he stated that his wife had abandoned him at his sister's house for a week. He also said he arrived last Friday, June 8th, 2024, and he has been trying to get back to Provo ever since.

Dusten was placed into custody and searched, and his property was released to his sister’s residence.

While en route to the Uintah County Jail, Officer McGaha talked with Agent Ercanbrack, who forwarded the email from Dusten's Probation officer stating he had absconded. According to his wife, he was out in the Vernal area and listed the above address.

Due to the timeline and Dusten not reporting a change or new address location in over seven days, he is being charged with Failure to Register Sex Offender, a 3rd-degree felony. He did not register nor attempt to contact to register as a sex offender as required.

Officer Mcgaha, the arresting officer, the undersigned magistrate finds that probable cause existed for the arrest without a warrant of Dusten Woodruff Anderson. The current offense is a felony committed while on probation or parole, or while free on bail awaiting trial on a previous felony charge. The court finds substantial evidence to support the current felony charge.

Therefore, the court orders that Dusten Woodruff Anderson is to be held without bail.
