Man Threatens Woman Before Slashing Her Car Tires

Roosevelt, Utah (6/6/26)—Roosevelt Police were dispatched to the Davis Food & Drug on reports of possible property damage. Dispatch advised that the complainant stated the tires were slashed on her Hyundai Sonata.
Dispatch advised that the complainant believed it was 35-year-old Anthony James Reuss who had slashed her tires because he had been making threats that morning about damaging her car, and it had been going on for the last six months.
Officer Arnold arrived and found the car parked in the middle of the parking lot with two flat tires. The vehicle owner told police they could rewind the cameras to see who did it. She stated she was actually on her way to get a restraining order on her lunch break.
The officer asked her about the threats she was receiving. The woman said Anthony was making threats this morning, and that it's an everyday thing for him. She told him last night she had an incident at his mom's house. She stated he is just out of control right now.
Officer Arnold asked if the threats this morning were over text, and she said yeah she should still have them on her phone. She pulled up her messages and gave her phone to the officer to read through. He read through the texts, but didn't really see anything directly saying he was going to damage her car. He did say, "Maybe I'll come take those car parts that you haven't paid for since they are mine," and followed it up with "And you're wasting your time, texting me because you're blocked."
The officer took a photo of those messages. While she was looking for the messages, she told him he had taken her ID, and that was why she had gone over there last night. She said he told her he had her ID, so she went over to get it, and it went from 0 to 100 real quick "because he's a fucking psychopath." She said she wasn't 100% sure he did it, but she was pretty sure he did. She also said, "Who knows, I might just have two flat tires." "I might just need new tires." "I have been having tire problems."
Officer Arnold asked if she would fill out a statement, and she said yes. He then went to look at the tires and took photos. The officer could not see any obvious puncture marks in either tire. Once she finished her statement, the police collected it from her and told her they would review the footage and go from there.
Police requested the footage from Davis Food & Drug, but no one there could use the cameras, but would get it ready for the officers.
On 6/15/2026, Officer Arnold received video from Davis Food & Drug with a screenshot of the license plate. Not all of the letters could be seen, so the officer conducted a partial plate search based on the letters he could see and found the full plate number registered to Anthony Reuss, which matched the screenshot of the vehicle.
Police then watched the video and saw that it was indeed Anthony who got out of the vehicle. In the video, Anthony can be seen parking next to the woman’s car on the north side, getting out, and crouching down next to each tire for just a few seconds. Anthony then hurries back to his vehicle and leaves.
On 6/16/2026, Officer Arnold attempted to contact the female, but she did not answer. He decided to review old reports attached to her name and read in a Keep the Peace report that Anthony was trying to get a stolen vehicle back. The report states that Anthony "had just cut his losses when his ex-girlfriend, (the female in this incident).
Officer Arnold asked Deputy Clyde to respond to Anthony's address with him, as he had previously responded to calls for service there.
When they arrived at Anthony's residence, the female's car was parked in the driveway. They approached the trailer, and the female opened the door to the camp trailer. The police asked if Anthony could come to the door to speak with them, and he stepped out of the trailer.
Anthony sat down on the steps of the trailer to put on his shoes and told the officers they were just talking and that he had figured out why they were there. Anthony said he wasn't trying to hurt anybody. Officer Arnold asked Anthony to tell them what happened. Anthony said they have been having a rough go at it, that he was getting the air out, and that he thought she was about to go on break.
Anthony told the police he thought she would go on break, hear the air, and call him. Anthony said he was just trying to get a phone call. Officer Arnold asked Anthony if he had just unscrewed the valve stems, and he said yeah. Anthony stated there's a little coil that goes inside there, and he just barely cracked it, so the air was leaking really slowly.
Anthony was told by the police that they had watched the video of him next to the woman's car, but couldn't see any slash marks or any damage to the tires. Anthony said he wasn't trying to damage her tires because he had put money into that car. He stated he doesn’t know where he and the female are in the relationship, but he knows he loves her.
Officer Arnold spoke with the female and asked her what she ultimately had to do with her tires. She told him they tried to air them up, and the next day, one of them was still flat, so she ended up having to go get brand-new tires. She said that they told her the tires were pretty messed up from when they went flat. He then asked her if she and Anthony were currently dating; she said no. He then asked if they had dated in the past, and she said yeah.
Officer Arnold returned to speak with Anthony again and explained that the tires were damaged as a result of his actions. He responded with the fact that both of his parents were bedridden, and asked if there was any way they could work with him. It was explained to him that under Utah law, they were considered cohabitants, which makes this a domestic violence offense, and that they had to make an arrest because of those circumstances.
Anthony was placed in handcuffs and escorted to a patrol vehicle. He was searched incident to arrest, then placed in a patrol vehicle. He was then transported to the Duchesne County Jail, where he was booked for criminal mischief and domestic violence.
