Duchesne County Deputies responded to the area of 2000 N 7000 W to an assault where 48-year-old April Katie Black had shown up to a residence where she wasn't welcome.

The property owner told April to leave, but she refused to do so. During this time, the victim arrived at the residence.

According to the report, the victim and April began to argue, and April started to poke the female victim in the chest. As the argument escalated, April used both of her fists and punched the victim in the chest, knocking her to the ground.

As the victim fell, she hit her elbow and scraped it on a floor jack. Before police arrived, April fled the scene.

Other witnesses also stated that April was the aggressor and was consistent with what the victim had reported.

Later that day, a deputy spoke with April on the phone, and she said she was home in Whiterocks. The deputy explained to her that an active investigation was underway into the incident that had occurred earlier that day.

April told the deputy that she was aware and stated that, "She let her emotions get the best of her."

April explained that she didn't push her but instead was trying to get around her and, lost her balance and bumped into her, knocking her down. The deputy told her that witnesses had already given him their statements, and her story didn't match.

The deputy asked April to meet with him to get a written statement from her as well, and she declined unless a BIA officer was present.

The deputy made several attempts to meet with April, but she was unwilling to do so. April stopped responding to Deputy Clyde’s messages and phone calls.

Deputy Clyde is issuing an arrest warrant because April was not present to be questioned or taken into custody. Several attempts have been made to meet with April, but she has not followed through and is no longer responding to the deputy.

April is also a Tribal Member who lives on Tribal land where the Sheriff's Office does not have jurisdiction and can not serve any paperwork.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of April Katie Black, please call the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office at 435-738-2015 or Central Dispatch 435-738-2424
