Brothers get into a fight when one accuses the other of hitting a female

Vernal, Ut.- On 8/17/23, at around midnight, Vernal Police were called to 590 West Main Street on a report of a disorderly in progress. Call notes indicated that two people were physically fighting and are intoxicated.

After speaking to witnesses, the Officers learned that 22-year-old Rison Perenise Vagana had gotten into a physical altercation with his brother after the brother had been accused of hitting a female.

The fight had been broken up between a relative, and Rison grabbed a children's bicycle and threw it at a vehicle, causing the windshield to be completely destroyed. A witness stated that Rison had been drinking and ran away from the scene when law enforcement arrived.

Later in the night, witnesses called central dispatch, reporting Rison had returned to the hotel and was banging on the door. Upon law enforcement's arrival, Rison ran away again and was later found hiding under a table in the main office building. Rison was secured in handcuffs and arrested.

Officer O'Donnal read Rison's Miranda Rights and began interviewing him about what had happened. Rison stated that his female friend told him that his brother had hit her, so he began punching his brother because he put his hands on a woman.

After a records check was conducted, it was learned that Rison is currently on 12 months probation and interdicted not to purchase, possess, or consume alcohol.

Rison was arrested for Assault - DV, Unlawful Consumption by an Interdicted Person, Property Damage, Intoxication, and Disorderly Conduct. Rison used unlawful force against his brother while under the influence of an intoxicant, making him a danger to himself or others as he engaged in fighting and violent behavior. Rison also destroyed the property of another, causing between $500.00 to $1,500.00 worth of damage, which will enhance to a Class A Misdemeanor.

Rison was transported to the Uintah County Jail and booked on charges.
