Deputy Oldham was contacted by a detective from Madera, California, looking for 80-year-old Jack Allen Fusari.
The deputy was told that Jack registered in California as a sex offender but moved to Utah back in March and failed to register in Utah.
While speaking with the detective, it was learned that there are three tiers in California, and Jack was on tier two and was charged with a felony of lewdness of a child under 14. The detective wanted the deputy to locate and inform her where Jack was.
Deputy Oldham spoke with his supervisor, and they decided to arrest Jack if he was located.
Jack was located and briefly spoken to about his concern about his registration. He said he had moved to Vernal and lived here for three to four months.
The deputy explained that he was in violation of registering as a sex offender and had him turn around and place his hands behind his back.
Jack was placed in handcuffs and transported to the Uintah County Jail and booked in on failure to register as a sex offender.
