30-year-old Fruitland man charged with 110 sex crimes against children and bestiality

On January 22^nd, 2025, the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a detective with the Federal Way Police Department in Washington state about a case he had been working on through the Washington state ICAC office involving Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Det. Mullet in Washington executed several warrants against service providers, including Dropbox, Google, Comcast, and Verizon, based on a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cybertip he had received.

Then on January 29^th, 2026, Det. Hunter with the DCSO received a thumb drive in the mail from Det. Mullet in regards to the case. The thumb drive contained warrant returns from Comcast, Verizon, Google, and Dropbox, along with reports and other information based on the Cyber tip.

Det. Mullet explained that the suspect, 30-year-old Caleb Ronald Hawks, left Washington State and moved to Fruitland, Utah, to live with family.

At the beginning of January 2026, after Det. Hunter spoke with Det. Mullet by phone and email. Det. Hunter called Caleb's father, who gave the detective Caleb's contact information.

Det. Hunter began searching through all of the evidence that Det. Mullet had sent him, and while looking through the Dropbox return, Det. Hunter found 85 different photographs of CSAM that Caleb saved on his account. The videos and images were of prepubescent boys engaged in different kinds of sex acts. He also found 15 separate videos and photos of CSAM that Caleb uploaded and distributed to others via his Dropbox account.

On February 2^nd, 2026, Det. Hunter applied for a search warrant for the Fruitland area, where Caleb was living. The warrant was approved on February 6^th, 2026, and detectives with the DCSO executed the warrant at the residence, taking Caleb into custody. During the execution of the warrant, several electronic devices were seized, including his cellphone.

During a search of the cellphone, detectives located multiple images and videos of Caleb involved in acts of bestiality with all three of the family dogs. There were also videos and images of other bestiality videos on the cellphone. Also located during the search of the phone were more videos and images of underage boys being raped.

Based on the sheer number of charges already filed, and the heinous nature of those charges, the suspect should be considered a very high risk to public safety, and should not be released back into public. Also, at the time of his arrest, the suspect was suicidal and put on suicide watch at the jail. The suspect also has ties outside the state. It is suspected that if released, he may flee to one of those jurisdictions to avoid prosecution or may attempt suicide to avoid being held accountable for the charges filed.

The current offense is a felony. There is substantial evidence to support the charge, and through clear and convincing evidence would constitute a substantial danger to another individual or to the community, or is likely to flee the jurisdiction of the court if released on bail.
