Woman Tells Daycare Not To Let The Father Pick Up His Child

Vernal, Ut.— On March 15th, 2024, at about 5:00 pm, Cpl Pummell was called to the Sunburst Daycare at 650 North Vernal Ave on a report of a civil dispute.

Cpl Pummell was advised by dispatch that the father of one of the children, 32-year-old Kody Gene Kimbel, was at the facility attempting to pick up his child. The daycare was told by the mother not to release the child to Kody due to suspected drug use.

A warrants status check was done on Kody, and it returned he had two warrants out for his arrest out of Roosevelt.

Cpl Pummell arrived at the daycare and met Kody inside. He told him he had the two warrants for his arrest and needed to go with the officer.

Kody was placed into handcuffs and searched. In Kody's right pant pocket was a piece of chard tinfoil that Kody said was Fentanyl. He also said there was a tooter in his sock. The officer removed it.

Kody Kimbel was transported to the Uintah County Jail and booked in for possession of a controlled substance, a 3rd-degree felony, due to having the drug in a drug-free zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for the two warrants.
