A Vernal City Police Officer was out on patrol when a male he knew had a warrant was in a green car parked at 690 West Main Street.
A records check revealed that 31-year-old Brandon Jay Larsen had an active full extradition US Marshall's Warrant for his arrest.
Officer Cannon asked Brandon to step out of the vehicle. He informed Brandon of his warrant, and he asked if he could smoke a cigarette before being placed into custody.
The officer allowed Brandon to have a cigarette, and shortly after lighting it, Brandon stated that he couldn’t go with them. Officer Cannon told him that he was and went to grab his arm. Brandon turned and ran.
Three officers chased behind, yelling out commands to stop, but Brandon failed to do so.
Brandon eventually stopped running near 750 West Main St when he fell to his knees and gave up.
While the officers were placing Brandon in handcuffs, he was yelling, causing a scene. He was asked to stop, but he didn't comply.
Brandon was secured in the back of a patrol vehicle and transported to the Uintah County Jail. He was booked into jail for failure to stop at the command of a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct after being asked to cease. Brandon was also booked in on the US Marshall's Warrant.
Brandon J Larsen may post bail in the amount of $2,500.00.
