VPD received a call of two females and a male fighting in the middle of the street

Vernal, Ut. On 1/4/24, at around 1:42 am, Officer McCurdy was dispatched to the area of 100 West 700 North on a report of a domestic violence incident.

Call notes indicated two females and one male were previously in the street physically fighting and were now inside a residence across the street. Officer McCurdy met with other officers who were speaking with a female at the doorway.

The female had blood on her hoodie and a bite mark on her right arm. The female victim indicated there was an altercation between her sister and her boyfriend, now known as 26-year-old Erik Marquez Reyna.

The Officer observed Erik with physical signs to indicate he was involved in a physical altercation. Erik had a scratch on his neck and what appeared to be a bite mark on his chest.

Due to these circumstances, the male was asked what his name and DOB were, and he refused to disclose his identity. The male was warned again that he would be arrested if he didn't identify himself. He refused to identify himself and was arrested and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.

With the assistance of other law enforcement officers, the male's identity was confirmed as Erik Marquez Reyna. He was positively identified through previous booking photos.

While Erik was being secured in handcuffs, the Officer could smell the odor of alcohol emitting from his person. Erik had red, bloodshot eyes and slow, slurred speech.

Erik later submitted to a portable breath test showing positive for alcohol, being .271 BrAC. Once positively identified, a warrant was issued for Erik's arrest. Erik was then booked into the Uintah County Jail.
