Victim Ambushed While Asleep in his Truck at McCoy Flats Bonfire

Vernal, Utah (6/5/26)—Uintah County Sheriff's Deputies responded to UBMC in Vernal to speak with a 22-year-old man who had sustained injuries. The individual reported being at a bonfire at McCoy Flats.
He explained that after some time, he fell asleep in his truck and was awakened by 20-year-old Izaiah Conrad Goff, 19-year-old Shyanne Rhea Eckert, and 19-year-old Tegan Z. Reynolds.
The victim recounted that Tegan began yelling at him, accusing him of inappropriately touching Shyanne. He attempted to move to the other side of the truck, but the group managed to open his door, and Izaiah pulled him out before attacking him.
During the assault, the victim stated he could only try to shield himself. At one point, he lost consciousness as the beating continued and described his vision fading to black.
When he regained awareness, Shyanne was on top of him, hitting him in the face, followed by Izaiah attacking him again.
During their investigation, deputies obtained two recordings of the incident, which they believe support the victim's account.
The first video shows Tegan at the driver's side door, confronting the victim about touching a girl and gesturing off-camera, asking if he had touched "this girl right here." The victim denied the claims, prompting Tegan to punch him. As they argued, Izaiah opened the passenger door. Tegan warned the victim to start responding, or he would drag him out.
The victim continued to deny the accusations and requested to talk. The argument progressed, and Izaiah eventually pulled the victim out of the truck. The next part of the video depicts the victim on the passenger side, visibly in distress, while Tegan looms over him.
In this footage, Tegan is seen kicking the victim in the face, punching him in the head and ribs, and stomping on his head. The victim, unconscious, made no attempts to defend himself.
At one moment, Shyanne climbed on top of the victim and began hitting him while Tegan and Izaiah stood by. Tegan then intervened, rolled the victim over, revealing that he was completely limp with his arm falling to the ground.
Shortly after, the victim turned to his side, and Izaiah kicked him in the face and ribs, struck him repeatedly, and dragged him by his hair while continuing to punch him. The victim made limited attempts to shield himself during the assault, and audio captured him calling out Izaiah's name.
Tegan was identified from the video, as his name was mentioned in interviews. Deputy Fuller located his records in Roosevelt, and Detective Russell was to contact him.
Tegan claimed he was not in the vicinity and did not participate, but Deputy Fuller verified through license plate data that Tegan's vehicle was recorded traveling East from Roosevelt around the time of the incident. The vehicle was later seen at the Maverik gas station in Vernal, directly across from Walmart.
Tegan was identified in the store footage, where he made a purchase before meeting Shyanne and Izaiah outside. His vehicle was then observed following theirs on the highway, matching his appearance in the assault video through his clothing and body type.
Tegan was arrested and questioned, eventually admitting to his involvement in the attack. He initially disputed having kicked the victim, claiming he only retaliated after being punched once, which was not evident in the footage.
Izaiah was also interviewed. Initially, he stated he was present but did not touch the victim. He later admitted to hitting him but denied kicking him in the face, despite clear evidence in the video.
Charges in this case include Burglary of a Vehicle, as the individuals unlawfully entered the victim's truck intending to commit a crime, and aggravated assault due to the severity of the beating that left the victim unconscious, continuing even after he could no longer defend himself.
The aggravated assault charge includes a gang enhancement due to the involvement of three individuals in the attack.
