Vernal City Police were dispatched to a residence for an active domestic incident. The call came into dispatch from a third party who stated his friend’s brother needed an officer because an argument had turned physical.

When the police arrived at the residence, Officer Elmer spoke with the female inside the home, who was identified as 26-year-old Lilian Sofia Ochoa Orizabal. At the same time, assisting officers spoke with the male outside.

During this time, with the assistance of a translator, it was found that Lilian was home with her children when the victim came home. She stated that the victim had started to berate and get aggressive with her, but nothing physical.

Lilian stated that she felt afraid and thought the victim was going to hurt her again, and admitted to punching him in the face.

The victim stated he just got home from Plaza Mexicana when Lilian started to argue with him. The argument had escalated from there, and he was hit in the face. The victim had a scratch on his face and a scratch under his upper lip.

The victim stated that Lilian had grabbed him by the neck and started to strangle him when his vision went black and his hearing became hollow. He also said he had lost consciousness for a moment and hit his head on the window.

When he came to, Lilian started to strangle him again until their oldest son came out of the room and grabbed Lilian by the waist to get her to stop. One of their daughters also came out, and the victim grabbed their daughter, and the fighting stopped.

Lilian was placed under arrest and then transported to the Uintah County Jail without further incident.
