Vernal Police Called To The Valley Saloon Because An Intoxicated Male Was Refusing To Leave

| Vernal, Ut. | May 18th, 2024 |

On Saturday, Vernal City Police were called to The Valley Saloon at 1686 West Highway 40 because a highly intoxicated male was refusing to leave the bar.

When Cpl Johnstun arrived, he met with the male sitting outside the bar with the bouncer. The male was identified by his Arizona Driver's license as 28-year-old Leroy Harvey.

The officer noted that Leroy's eyes were bloodshot, his speech was slurred, and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from Leroy as he spoke. Leroy admitted he had been drinking and was intoxicated.

Leroy said he had a hotel room in the Quality Inn attached to the Saloon and stated he would go to his room. Cpl Johnstun walked with Leroy to his hotel room and entered the room.

Leroy's sister was in the room, and he began to argue with her. He was rude and belligerent and indicated he was going to leave and hitchhike to Wyoming. He started gathering his belongings, which included two 30-packs of beer.

Leroy began walking out of the hotel and dropped one of the 30 packs of beer in the hotel parking lot. He picked up the box and told the officers to give it to his sister, then threw the 30-pack on the ground, breaking some of the beer cans.

Leroy was told to pick up the beer and dispose of it. He picked up the case, and it tore, causing cans to fall out. Leroy then threw the case down again and started throwing beer cans. Several people in the parking lot noticed and walked away when Leroy began throwing beer cans.

Cpl Johnstun placed Leroy under arrest for intoxication. Leroy was then transported to the Uintah County Jail.

At the Jail, Leroy refused to answer any of the booking questions and replied, fuck you to all the questions. Leroy then began saying he was going to kill himself or force deputies to kill him. Leroy then stood up and was ordered several times to sit back down. Leroy refused to comply with lawful commands in an attempt to hinder his arrest. Jail Deputies had to use force to get Leroy into a cell.

Leroy Harvey may post bail in the amount of $920.00

If Leroy Harvey posts bail as stated above, Leroy Harvey is hereby ordered to be released subject to the following conditions:

• Promise to appear for all required court proceedings.

• Promise not to commit any criminal offense.

• Report your contact information and any change in address, phone, or email to the Court and your attorney within one business day of the change.

In those jurisdictions where pretrial release and supervision authority has been granted by written agreement, defendants may be released to pretrial services without posting bail, consistent with the terms of that agreement.
