Vernal Police arrest two men for drinking on the BTA bus.

Vernal, Utah (6/2/26)—It was reported that two men on a Basin Transit Association (BTA) bus were drinking and being belligerent.

Vernal City Police arrived in the area of 1850 W Highway 40, and one of those individuals, 27-year-old Melicio Ledbeter Cesspooch, admitted he had been drinking earlier in the day.

Melicio agreed to provide a Portable Breath Test (PBT). The results of that test indicated a positive result for alcohol in his system (.079 BrAC). Melicio is listed as being an alcohol interdicted.

Melicio was taken into custody, and during a search of Melicio's person, incident to arrest, a 7/16 deep socket was located on his person. Inside the socket was burnt marijuana residue. A small green baggie was also found on Melicio containing marijuana. Officer White found that he does not currently possess a medical marijuana card.

It was found that Melicio had been convicted of at least two prior marijuana possession-related charges.

Melicio Cesspooch was transported to the Uintah County Jail, where he was booked on the following charges:

Possession of marijuana for having been in the possession of marijuana (with at least two prior convictions) is a class A misdemeanor.

Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia for having possessed with the intent ot use drug paraphernalia to store, contain, conceal, ingest, inhale, or otherwise introduce a controlled substance into the human body, a class B misdemeanor.

Purchase (consumption) by an interdicted person for having been an interdicted person and having purchased or possessed an alcoholic product, a class B misdemeanor.

The other individual, 26-year-old Aron Dean Oldham, also admitted that he had been drinking. Eventually, he told police he had alcohol in his bag. He gave the officers consent to search the bag, and inside they found a mostly empty bottle of Sailor Jerry's spiced rum.

Aron provided a breath sample, and the results of that test showed the result for alcohol in Aron's system of .109 BrAC. The officers learned that Aron was listed as being alcohol interdicted.

Aron Oldham was taken into custody and transported to the Uintah County Jail, where he was booked on the following charge:
