Uintah County Man Hits Another Man In The Head With A Rock

3/11/24

Uintah Co.— On 3/8/24, Deputy Fairey was called to a report of an assault that had occurred the previous night in the Davis Subdivision.

The complainant stated he accompanied his juvenile brother to speak to his brother’s girlfriend’s father.

The complainant stated while at the residence speaking with the father, 46-year-old Arthur William Holman had shown up and was intoxicated.

Arthur was using obscene language as well as being aggressive towards the juvenile, according to the complainant. Arthur also threatened the two brothers and then swung or threw his coat at them, hitting the complainant and scratching his neck.

The complainant told the deputy that the juvenile had pushed Arthur away, and then the complainant went to help his younger brother and was tackled to the ground by Arthur.

While on the ground, Arthur was sitting on top of the complainant, hitting him on the left side of his head with a rock after he choked and pushed his thumb into the complainant's right eye.

The complainant had visible injuries to his left temple and right eye that included abrasions, swelling, and redness. The complainant had a bruise on his right hand and stated that he had received the bruise while punching Arthur to get him to let go of his throat.

The complainant's juvenile brother showed the deputy a video he had captured on his cell phone. The video stops before the physical altercation but shows Arthur's demeanor when he arrives at the location. Arthur can be heard in the video using aggressive language and instigating the complainant to fight. In the video, Arthur also uses threatening language toward the two brothers.

The father told Deputy Fairey that he believed Arthur had been intoxicated during the incident and stated that Arthur had initiated the physical altercation.

Arthur was located at his home and spoken to about the incident. Arthur admitted that he had been consuming alcohol before the incident and that he had been acting aggressively and inappropriately.

Arthur stated he had been hit in the back of the head by the complainant before tackling him to the ground, and he didn’t remember what exactly occurred while they were on the ground but denied that he had hit the complainant with a rock.

Arthur said he had been holding the complainant down to keep him from being hit, and he was ready to ground pound him. Arthur admitted that his hands had been up around the complainant's neck but denied that he was trying to choke him or gouge his eyes.
