AP&P contacted the Uintah Basin Narcotics Strike Force in reference to a probation home visit of 37-year-old Urshel Sunny Tohannie.
Urshel is currently on probation for aggravated assault, DUI, and drug-related charges.
On June 2, 2025, Urshel walked into the AP&P office and told his agent that he had been smoking meth the past weekend.
Agents arrived at Urshel’s residence in Vernal, and they found multiple jewelry-sized baggies with what appeared to be methamphetamine residue inside. These baggies were in bulk and typically used to distribute smaller quantities of illegal narcotics. There were multiple marijuana containers and glass water pipes (bongs) inside the same room.
The marijuana containers had marijuana flower inside. One of the black marijuana containers had baggies of a white crystalized substance consistent with methamphetamine.
Urshel was handcuffed, sitting on the porch when he was advised of his Miranda Rights. An agent asked him about his meth use, and Urshel stated a gram of meth would last him about three days.
Agents found a large quantity of marijuana containers that appeared to be from marijuana dispensaries in Colorado. None had the prescription label on them as they would from an authorized Utah dispensary.
The quantity of methamphetamine found is more than personal use of one-quarter gram to a third of a gram used daily.
Also located were six switchblade knives, a throwing knife attached to a rope, three-section staff used for fighting, and a pair of nun chucks.
Multiple paraphernalia items include glass water pipes (AKA: Bongs) for methamphetamine and marijuana, multiple marijuana pipes, multiple marijuana grinders with marijuana inside, and baggies with methamphetamine residue.
Urshel confirmed he smokes daily to keep high and smokes marijuana to help him balanced out to eat and sleep. He stated he sells 1g of methamphetamine for $20.00-$30.00.
Urshel told the agents he purchases in large quantities and either sells or helps people out when they are in need. He stated he bought 3.5g for $150.00, and there is evidence of distribution on his cell phone.
Two baggies of methamphetamine were found in the residence total weight is 20.9g.
