Rodeo Spectator Arrested Following Unsteady Behavior After Almost Falling Into a Passing Vehicle

Vernal, Utah (6/20/26)—While on duty at Western Park, Officer Silcox received reports about a man who appeared highly intoxicated and was causing disturbances after the rodeo.

After observing the individual for approximately five minutes, Officer Silcox, along with other officers, saw him stumble multiple times as he moved through the park. When the man headed toward the street, Officer Silcox followed to ensure he wouldn't attempt to get behind the wheel of a vehicle.

As the officer watched, the man stumbled onto the roadway, nearly colliding with a vehicle heading west on 200 South near the northern entrance of Western Park. Once on the sidewalk, he fell face-first onto the gravel while trying to reach the parking lot of the conference center.

Ami Langton Post, age 60, struggled to rise as Officer Silcox and fellow officers approached him. He exhibited slurred speech, glossy, bloodshot eyes, and a noticeable sway.

The officers assisted him into a patrol vehicle, carefully guiding him into the back seat while maintaining control. Throughout the encounter, Ami repeatedly insisted to the police that he was merely drunk.
