Vernal, Ut.- On 3/30/23, Officers with the VPD were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at 295 North 120 West. Dispatch advised them that the complainant indicated that 43-year-old Michael Wayne Eades was intoxicated and punched the complainant.

Before arriving on the scene, Cpl Johnstun conducted a records check and found that Michael is an alcohol interdicted as part of sentencing on a prior case.

When the police arrived and contacted Michael at the front door, his speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot, and he was swaying and staggering. While attempting to interview Michael about the alleged assault, he continually changed the subject and wouldn't answer their questions.

Based on the Officer's observations, they determined there was probable cause Michael had consumed alcohol as an interdicted person. Cpl Johnstun grabbed Michael's arm and placed him under arrest.

Michael tensed up his arms, which had to be forcibly placed behind his back. They then began walking Michael outside to a patrol vehicle, and Michael turned and head-butted one of the Officers.

Michael was put inside a patrol vehicle, and another Officer attempted to place a seat belt on Michael. He attempted to spit on the Officer's face, striking the Officer's hand.

The Officers determined Michael was under the influence to a degree he was a danger to himself and others. He was then transported to the Uintah County Jail.

Michael was booked in for assault by a prisoner, propelling a substance at a peace Officer, unlawful consumption of alcohol by an interdicted person, interference with arresting Officer, and intoxication.
