At around 7:30 p.m., Duchesne County Deputies were dispatched to a residence approximately 10 miles Northwest of Roosevelt for a reported assault. Due to the nature of the call, EMS was dispatched and asked to stage nearby for a quick response.
When Deputy Green and Deputy Woodhouse arrived at the scene, they were met by the victim, who was in the driveway.
The victim stated that 40-year-old Tanishna Lynn Parmenter had assaulted and choked her. The officers observed marks on the victim’s throat that resembled the marks of a hand.
Deputy Woodhouse took photos of the marks and asked the victim if anything else had occurred during the altercation. The victim was emotional and cold and struggling to verbally express herself. One of the officers asked the victim to fill out a Voluntary Witness Form inside a vehicle where she could stay warm and collect her thoughts.
The Deputies walked to the front of the home, where they met Tanishna on the patio. Deputy Green asked her if anyone else was present when the incident occurred, and she stated that her boyfriend, Kade Jensen, and her two sons were in the home. Kade was seen watching from inside the home.
The Officers asked Tanishna if she would permit them to enter the home to speak with Kade, and she allowed them to, and the two were separated to be spoken with. Deputy Woodhouse spoke with Tanishna and the victim, and Deputy Green spoke with Kade.
Deputy Green asked Kade what had happened, and he recollected the entire day, including prior arguments between the children leading up to tonight. He stated that during the altercation, he was upstairs and could hear it all but didn't see anything.
Kade continued to explain he heard the victim and Tanishna yelling at one another. He then heard the victim walk into her room to separate herself from Tanishna. Tanishna then ran into the victim's room after her.
Kade heard a loud thud, thinking Tanishna tackled the victim. Kade said during all of this, he remained upstairs and wasn't involved.
Kade stated he overheard Tanishna leave the victim's room, and the victim crying and packing up her belongings before calling 911.
After collecting information from Kade, Tanishna, the victim, the Deputies discussed what had been discovered.
Deputy Woodhouse informed Deputy Green that Tanishna admitted to being physical with the victim. She said she grabbed the victim’s hoodie and pulled it while the victim was trying to walk away. Tanishna stated she grabbed the victim by the throat with one hand while pinning her against the wall.
Deputy Woodhouse wanted to question the victim further to clarify several statements shared by Kade and Tanishna. The deputy returned to speak with the victim, and during this time, EMS assessed the victim.
Deputy Woodhouse returned and informed Deputy Green what the medical observation of her injuries determined. The deputies confronted Tanishna about the injuries and asked if she had applied pressure to the victim's neck. She stated she grabbed the victim by the hoodie and pinned her down.
Tanishna stated she turned the victim around to face her and yelled at her, but she was unsure if she had grabbed the victim by the throat.
After the deputies gathered information during the investigation, it was determined that Tanishna was the primary aggressor and would be charged with aggravated assault (Domestic Violence enhanced) due to her impeding the breathing or the circulation of blood of another individual by the use of unlawful force or violence by applying pressure to the neck or throat of the victim.
Tanishna would be charged with two counts of Commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child due to this incident being acted out in an area where both her sons may have seen or heard the act of domestic violence.
Tanishna was taken into custody on these charges and transported to the Duchesne County Jail for intake.
