Man calls police on himself to get arrested because he didn't want to go home

Officer Escobedo responded to the Sage Motel at 54 West Main Street on a report that an individual named "Bob" stated that he needed to be called in before he hurt himself or someone else.
The officer arrived and saw two males standing near the entrance to the Smoke Shop. One of the individuals approached Officer Escobedo and Officer Webb and asked them to take him to jail. The individual, identified by his Utah driver's license, was 44-year-old Robert Mervin Cook.
The officers explained to Robert that they couldn't take him to jail without reason. He then stated, "I'm gonna make you put me in jail." He then said he didn't want to go home.
When asked why Robert wanted the police to take him to jail, he stated, "Cause my wife thinks I'm out fuckin somebody, and I'm not gonna go home and kill her," He also stated, "Do you want me to go home and fuckin, you come to my house, and she's dead?"
Robert became loud and agitated shouting "Fuck" loudly and multiple times as the officers explained to him they couldn't take him to jail when he hadn't committed a crime as of yet. Robert said that he was a "Nutjob" and had consumed alcohol and mushrooms, though later stated he wasn't on drugs but was mentally unstable.
During the investigation, Robert attempted to open the driver's door of Officer Webb's patrol vehicle but was unsuccessful. Robert was then placed in handcuffs and detained in the back of a patrol vehicle.
Robert submitted to a PBT, which showed the results of .061 Breath Alcohol Content. He was transported to the Ashley Regional Medical Center for a medical clearance. When cleared, Robert was taken to the Uintah County Jail.
