Uintah County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) Deputies were dispatched to a domestic assault in the Vernal area. When the deputies arrived, they found a female who was upset and had a split lip with dried and fresh blood dripping from it.

The female told the deputies that during the night, she and 55-year-old Donald Samuel Wade were inside the camp trailer she lived in, arguing. The female had been allowing Donald to stay with her because he was homeless.

Donald pulled a black colored handgun, waved it around, and told her, "I will shoot you in the fat of your gut and kill you."

Scared for her life, the female stood up and told him to leave. Donald punched her in the face, splitting her lip, and then left the residence.

At around 9:15 am, Donald came back to the trailer and started arguing with the victim again. The owner of the property came outside and heard them arguing, saw the blood on the victim’s lip, and called 911.

UCSO Deputies arrived, but they were unable to locate Donald. Sgt. Watkins was patrolling 500 North near 1475 West when he saw a male walking who matched the description of Donald.

Sgt. Watkins stopped to speak with the individual and asked the male if his name was Donald Wade. The male said no and provided the Sgt with a different name. Because the male matched the description of the person they were looking for, he was detained for the time being.

As Sgt. Watkins began searching the subject, and he again asked him if he was Donald Wade. This time, the male confirmed he was Donald Wade. He was asked if he had any weapons, and Donald stated he did have a gun in his pocket.

Sgt. Watkins controlled Donald's arms and hands until assisting deputies arrived. The handgun was removed from Donald's possession and secured in Deputy Ogle's patrol vehicle.

Donald Wade was transported to the Uintah County Jail, where Deputy Pratt requested a no-bail hold on Donald due to him being homeless and not having a place to go when released. Due to his concerns, he will attempt to go back to the victim's camp trailer to try to stay there again and threaten to take her life.
