A female reported that her boyfriend, 45-year-old Joshua Alan Long, had assaulted her. Police located the victim next to her vehicle parked down the street from the residence where the incident occurred.

The female informed the officer she confronted Joshua about his suspected alcohol consumption, which violates his probation.

After confronting him, this led to a violent altercation where Joshua threw various objects at the victim, including a portable breathalyzer test.

A physical altercation began where the victim was dragged by the hair and choked to the point where she thought Joshua was going to kill her. The victim was able to escape and leave the home, then call 911 for help.

Deputy Simmons could see a red mark on the victim's throat, scratches on her arms, and a red mark on her head. She also said she had throat pain and difficulty breathing.

The deputy went to the residence to speak with Joshua and noticed right away signs of intoxication.

Joshua refused to speak with the deputy about the incident. Based on the victim's statement and the visible injuries, Joshua was arrested.

A PBT sample provided by Joshua showed a reading of 0.223 BrAC. He was then taken to the UCJ.

Joshua told the victim he would kill her and If released he may potentially pursue the victim and attempt to kill her.
