A white Dodge Neon was stopped at 3000 East US-40 in Ballard, Utah. A records check of the vehicle revealed that an active warrant was attached to it in 30-year-old Jessica Ann Zamora's name.

After stopping the vehicle, Deputy Fairey made contact with Jessica and was met with the heavy odor of alcohol coming from the passenger compartment with an infant in the front passenger seat, not in a car seat, unrestrained.

Dispatch checked Jessica's personal information and located two active arrest warrants from local jurisdictions for driver's license, insurance, and traffic offenses. Her driver's license status was shown as suspended and expired in 2013, and it listed class X, indicating that Jessica had never obtained a valid driver's license.

Jessica was informed that she was going to be taken into custody on the warrants and instructed to park the vehicle, shut off the engine, and hand the deputy her car keys. She refused his requests to exit the vehicle.

After an extended discussion, Deputy Fairey unlocked the driver's door to take her into custody, but Jessica grabbed his hand to prevent him from opening her door. During this, Jessica was able to restart her car and put it in gear.

With the door open and the deputy standing at the door, Jessica sped away from the traffic stop with the infant still in the front seat.

A few days following the traffic stop, officers from a neighboring jurisdiction encountered Jessica and arrested her. She was transported to the Uintah County Jail.
