Driver Flees After Running Red Light in Duchesne

Duchesne, Utah (6/6/26)— At 6:43 pm, deputies observed a white 2008 Nissan Titan run a red light at 100 W and Main Street. Deputy Meeks attempted to pull over the truck for this violation, but it fled the scene.
The vehicle drove to a secluded area in Duchesne County, specifically near Antelope Canyon. It ended up on a dead-end road at an oil site and came to a stop. Both the driver and passenger were instructed to exit the vehicle and comply while facing the officers.
Neither individual followed the deputies' commands and instead drove away. They later became stuck in the dirt in the same location while attempting to escape.
The passenger attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended following an extensive search. She later informed officers that she ran due to an active warrant from the board of pardons, which was subsequently confirmed and served. A search of the vehicle revealed several bags containing her personal items.
A search of the truck revealed several bags filled solely with women's items in the back compartment, which she claimed were hers.
During this search, officers discovered drug paraphernalia in one of the bags, including a scale, pipes, syringes, and small baggies typically used for illegal substances.
Lanessa June Gardmer, 36, was apprehended before the driver misled law enforcement about the other suspect's location and refused to provide his name, significantly complicating the investigation.
Lanessa was taken to jail, where staff found a pink baggie, usually associated with drug storage, containing a white crystal-like substance on her person, consistent with Methamphetamine.
In an interview, Lanessa revealed that she had used Methamphetamine earlier that day, and charges were filed against her for bringing a Schedule II drug into a correctional facility.
