Deputy Anderton arrived at a residence in Ballard, Utah, and spoke with a male witness who stated he had gotten into an argument with 59-year-old Glenn Nephi Giles.

The witness said that during the argument, Giles became angry and threatened to damage the witness’s wife and victim’s vehicle. When Giles went to exit the home and go towards the car, the victim (Giles’ daughter) tried to stop him from going outside. Giles stopped at the front door and pushed the victim to the floor.

The witness said he went to help the victim up off the floor, and as he did, Giles raised his fist toward the witness. The witness stated he thought Giles was going to hit him, so he told him he wasn’t going to fight him.

The victim stated when she was pushed to the floor, Giles raised his fist at her, and she believed he was going to knock her out.

When Deputy Anderton spoke to Giles, he stated he became angry and tried to leave the home to cause damage to the witness and the victim's vehicle when the victim attempted to lock him out. He admitted to turning around and shoving the victim to the ground.

Mr. Giles said when the witness came to the victim's aid, he believed the witness was going to assault him. That is why he raised his hand in a fist toward the witness to keep the witness away.

The deputy determined there was probable cause to arrest Giles for assault and four counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child.

Glenn Nephi Giles may post bail in the amount of $3,250.00.
