Vernal, Utah (6/4/2026)—Several customers in Walmart witnessed a woman throwing up and acting strangely. She was seen with an approximately 3-year-old child. The child appeared dirty and disheveled.

Witnesses spoke with the police and directed them to the location of the female. 33-year-old Jessica Dorothy Limberty was found erratically pacing through the aisles, having difficulty maintaining control of the items in her hands, and showing body spasms.

Cpl. Ross tried to talk to Jessica as she was having a hard time maintaining a train of thought and staying focused. She couldn't hold still and had trouble responding appropriately to the officer's questions. When asked if Jessica was under the influence of anything, she stated she had taken Adderall that was prescribed to her.

Jessica's child was seen taking chemical items off the shelf while officers were speaking with her. She didn't appear to notice this and had to be alerted by officers to what her child was doing.

These behaviors are consistent with an individual under the influence of a controlled substance.

The officer determined there was probable cause to arrest Jessica for being under the influence.

Based on Jessica's physical condition and actions, she was endangering the welfare of her child.

Jessica was arrested and transported to the Uintah County Jail, and was booked on the charges of reckless child abuse and public intoxication.
