Caller Describes Aggressive Behavior From an Individual Running Up and Down The Stairs and a Bloodied Individual

Vernal, Utah (6/1/26)—Vernal City Police responded to a disturbance call near 860 S Vernal Ave. involving a person running up and down the stairs while threatening others.

Officers arrived to find multiple individuals inside a vehicle in the adjacent parking lot. A physical altercation was immediately apparent: one man exhibited significant facial swelling and bruising on the right side, a blood ring around his lips, and a shirt torn from the right sleeve to the hem.

The man identified his fiancée, 24-year-old Emma Elaine King, as the assailant. A records check revealed multiple active arrest warrants for King—including one for a prior domestic violence assault against the same fiancé—and an active pre-trial protective order naming him as the protected party.

Though initially reported as having fled on foot, King was located asleep on a couch inside a nearby residence. Officers woke her and conducted an on-scene interview.

King was initially uncooperative but later claimed her fiancé had sat on top of her and “whammed” her. She stated she blacked out, recalled only being pinned, and remembered someone pulling him off before he was told to leave. She then went to bed.

King admitted she was not sober at the time. A portable breath test (PBT) registered .193 BrAC—more than twice Utah’s legal limit for intoxication.

King was taken into custody and booked at Uintah County Jail on the following charges:

Assault (Domestic Violence), a class A misdemeanor, for using unlawful force or violence causing substantial bodily injury;

Violation of a Pre-Trial Protective Order, a class A misdemeanor, stemming from the same underlying domestic case;

Intoxication, a class C misdemeanor, for being under the influence of alcohol to a degree endangering herself or others; And apprehension on three outstanding warrants, including the domestic violence charge linked to the protective order.
