AP&P received information that 67-year-old Tony Ray Hardinger tested positive for opiates through the Uintah County Drug Court Lab on April 12th, 2025.
Agent Ercanbrack also knew that Tony reported to Adult Probation and Parole on April 10th, 2025. At that time, Tony informed AP&P that he was out of medication and was waiting to see the doctor on May 7th, 2025, to get a refill.
On April 16th, 2025, at approximately 7:30 PM, two agents conducted a home compliance check at Tony’s residence located at 130 East 750 North, Vernal, Utah.
They knocked on the door, and Tony opened it and invited them inside. On the coffee table was a prescription bottle with Tony Hardinger's name on it. The prescription was for Bupreno/Nalox 2- .5 mg films, the generic for Suboxone. Inside the bottle was a variety of pills as well as one unopened strip of Suboxone in a yellow wrapper.
The unopened suboxone film was a Buprenorphine and Naloxone Sublingual Film that is 8mg/2mg, which is different than his prescription. Agent Ercanbrack used a pill identifier to identify the multiple different pills. Three of the pills were identified as over-the-counter medications. Agent Ercanbrack identified the fourth pill, which was a hexagon-shaped orange pill, as buprenorphine hydrochloride and naloxone hydrochloride, which is an 8mg/2mg pill.
It was determined there was probable cause to arrest Tony based on the items found inside his prescription bottle. The possession charges are enhanced due to his prior criminal convictions of knowingly producing/dispensing/manufacturing a controlled substance and possession or use of a controlled substance.
