A woman in the backseat of a vehicle was seen screaming and kicking the doors in the parking lot of 7-Eleven

1/8/23

Vernal, Ut. On 12/30/23, Cpl Johnstun responded to a disorderly detail at 500 East Main Street. Dispatch advised that the complainant stated a female in the back seat of a black Dodge was screaming and kicking the door in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven.

Dispatch also advised that a second complainant called and stated a female was trying to kick the windows out of a Dodge, and the male subjects were trying to keep her inside the vehicle.

When Cpl Johnstun arrived on scene the parties were separated, and the males were identified as 21-year-old Kaylem Allen Cesspooch and 24-year-old Matthew Joseph Gardner. Kaylem indicated that the female was his girlfriend, and they had just left the bar.

Cpl Johnstun viewed camera footage from 7-Eleven, and in the footage, Kaylem arrived at the store on foot. Matthew and the victim arrive in the parking lot in the black Dodge, where Kaylem opens the vehicle's back passenger door. The victim exits the Dodge and begins fighting with Kaylem.

The victim tried running away multiple times, and Kaylem would chase after her. Kaylem forced the victim back into the rear seat of the Dodge. During the altercation, it appeared the victim ended up on the ground, but some of the altercation occurred outside of the camera's view.

Kaylem was asked by Cpl Johnstun about the incident, and he stated they were just arguing because they were drunk. Kaylem was advised it appeared to be more than what had happened based on the camera footage.

Kaylem said, “That is what happens when they are drunk.”

Cpl Johnstun asked what the victim was saying while she was inside the vehicle, and Kaylem stated she was going to leave, so he locked her in the vehicle and activated the child locks.

Kaylem Cesspooch was arrested, transported, and booked into the Uintah County Jail.
