Uintah County, Ut.- On 3/8/23, Deputy Russel with the Uintah County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration along with the knowledge that there could be a wanted person inside the vehicle.
The Deputy informed the driver of the reason for the stop and gathered his information. In the back seat was a female he knew as 38-year-old Lacey Marie Nielsen.
While doing a records check on the individuals, Lacey had an active warrant from another agency listed as transport statewide.
Sgt Watkins arrived with his K-9 to conduct a free air sniff around the outside of the vehicle, and the K-9 indicated the odor of illegal drugs inside the car.
During the search, the Deputies found a small pink bag that Lacey was holding on her lap at the time of the traffic stop. Inside the pink bag was a small bag with cotton balls that had been soaked in heroin. A set of brass knuckles was also found during the search.
Lacey Nielsen was taken to the Uintah County Jail, where she was booked on the statewide warrant along with the possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia, and a dangerous weapon by a felon.
Lacey was asked at the jail when she last used illegal drugs, and she said earlier in the morning of 3/8/23.
