| Vernal, Ut. | June 8th, 2025 |

At approximately 12:45 AM, Vernal City Police were dispatched to an assault where it was reported that 38-year-old Chase Dirk Ussery and his ex-wife got into an argument.

After the argument, the homeowner confronted Chase, and a physical altercation ensued. Chase then fled the area.

Officer Boren arrived on scene and spoke with witnesses who stated they were watching TV when they overheard yelling between the ex-wife, her son, and Chase. The homeowner told Chase he wasn’t welcome and needed to leave.

The female witness stated Chase swung at the homeowner, so he returned blows.

The officer was then shown video footage from their doorbell camera to determine what Chase was wearing. While watching the video it showed Chase had entered the home with a gun.

Footage showed Chase walking up to the door with a AR style firearm that he was attempting to conceal behind his back before opening the front door. Chase is seen hastily walking to the front door and doesn't knock or try to alert anybody of his presence. Chase is then seen being pushed out of the house by the homeowner. The firearm is not visible at this time.

The female (ex-wife) stated she and Chase were arguing, but nothing physical had happened. She alleged that Chase walked up the stairs from the basement and was trying to leave when the homeowner started yelling at Chase, telling him to get out.

The female also alleged that Chase was punched numerous times in the face and all over his body. She said that the homeowner then continued to hit Chase while outside on the sidewalk. The female denied any knowledge of anything being in Chase’s hands during their argument.

Officer Boren located spots of blood on the sidewalk, just as the female described.

The officer then spoke to the female's son, who stated that he had heard the arguing but didn't witness any physical altercation.

Officer Boren provided the weapon's magazine to the female and asked if it was in the room. She responded with "Probably.”

The homeowner told police that it appeared Chase was trying to go outside but was unsure whether he was going upstairs or outside. He said he met Chase in the foyer, and Chase started swinging, so he punched him back.

The homeowner said he pushed Chase against the wall when they were at the top of the basement stairs when Chase got hit in the back of the head a couple of times. They continued fighting out of the house where Chase continued to fight, so the homeowner punched him in the stomach and the face. He told Chase that he wasn’t supposed to be there and started throwing punches.

The police were given permission to search the female's bedroom and basement to look for the firearm. Officer Escobedo found a rifle that matched the gun in the doorbell video.

The female told Sgt. Johnstun, she had no idea why Chase had come to the house that night.

At 10:00 PM, Cpl. Ross located a vehicle at 36 W 100 S that matched the description of the vehicle seen at Chase's residence after the incident. The officer made contact with the subject, who was identified as Chase Ussery.

Sgt. Johnstun located a black bag near Chase’s vehicle after the arrest was made. The bag contained another bag of suspected methamphetamine, a bag of brown tar-like substance of suspected heroin, tin foil with brown residue of suspected heroin, a glass pipe that is consistent with pipes used to ingest controlled substances, a portion of a pink pen or tooter with brown residue, and a blue lighter.

The tooter was made from a pen, and the pen had Montgomery Recycling inscribed on it. Chase was employed with Montgomery Recycling at the time.

Chase was placed under arrest and transported to the Uintah County Jail.

Probable cause exists for the arrest of Chase Ussery on the following charges:
