Vernal City Police responded to the Valley Saloon at 1684 West Hwy 40 on a report of a fight in the bar parking lot.
Officer Murray arrived at the bar to see two men standing together at the entrance of the bar and was clearly intoxicated with the scent of alcohol coming from both males who couldn't stand up straight without swaying.
28-year-old Austin Deverell Atwood and 29-year-old Riley Colton McMullin stated that no fight had occurred, despite Riley having a large spot of dried blood on his ear, a gash on his head, scrapes on his arms, and multiple witnesses stating otherwise.
During the fight, Austin punched a headlight on a Peterbilt dump truck. While Officer Murray was gathering information from Riley about what had transpired, he refused to identify himself after multiple requests.
After Austin was medically cleared, he was arrested for committing the offense of Property Damage by punching out the headlight of the Peterbilt. Disorderly Conduct, as he was engaged in fighting/ violent and tumultuous/ threatening behavior, and Intoxication, as Austin was under the influence of alcohol to the point that he was a danger to himself and others around him, and he had unreasonably disturbed the bar staff as they had initially reported the fight.
