Duchesne, Ut.- On December 1st, 2022, a CJC interview was performed at the West Jordan CJC with the victim, in this case, a 6- year-old female. The female disclosed during the interview that 29-year-old Brent Phillips Sr. had sodomized her on multiple occasions in Unincorporated Duchesne County, Utah.

The victim told the same story several times during her interview.

While describing the incidents, her voice would crack, and she would be near tears, telling the interviewer that it hurt very badly.

The victim also stated that her 4-year-old brother was also being abused by Brent Phillips Sr., but did not give exact ways regarding the abuse.

The investigators received information from another person who watches the children during the week that the 4-year-old victim had disclosed to them that Brent had made him perform oral sex on him and touched him inappropriately.

The 4-year-old was also at the CJC but refused to be interviewed or have an exam done.

The female victim stated during the interview that Brent would call her into whatever room Brent was in by saying, "I have a present for you," when she entered the room Brent was in, he was naked from the waist down.

The victim also stated that Brent would enter the room while she was asleep and hit her on the head to wake her up, and if she didn't wake up, he would hit her repeatedly until she woke up before abusing her.

The female victim relayed information during her interview that she had a brother that Brent had with another woman.

She stated that Brent also abused that sibling, who is three years old.

An unknown female told the investigators that she asked the suspect about what the children had said, and he stated that they were lying and that the 6-year-old victim was making up stories.

She also advised the investigators that Brent thought it was funny to pull the kid's pants down while they were in the home, exposing their genital and buttock's.

On December 2, 2022, at 9:28 am, Detective's with the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office and caseworkers with The Department of Child and Family Services responded to Brent Phillips Sr.'s home on Hwy 87 and took him into custody without incident.

Officer Hunter’s statement in the affidavit:

I believe that if Brent Phillips Sr. is allowed to be released from custody, he will flee the area to avoid prosecution. We have also received information there had been Domestic Abuse situations with the suspect, and if the suspect were to gain knowledge of the parties involved in this case, they might be put at undue risk of bodily injury by the suspect.
