A male & female found passed out on drugs inside a vehicle at a gas station in Duchesne.

Duchesne, Utah (5/2/26)—An individual reported that a silver vehicle with a couch attached to the roof had been parked at the gas station pumps at 94 E Main Street for a long period of time.
The complainant reported seeing a female slumped over the steering wheel and a male passenger. They were unsure of the driver's status and too afraid to approach the vehicle. They did see the passenger move around at some point.
Cpl. Cox arrived at the scene, pulled in behind the described vehicle, and notified dispatch that he was at the location. He exited his patrol truck and approached the vehicle, where he could see a female slumped over in the driver's seat and a male moving around.
The deputy knocked on the driver's side window, and the woman woke up and opened the door. The deputy immediately recognized the female as 39-year-old Dani Lynn Petty.
While Cpl. Cox spoke with Dani and the passenger, identified as 30-year-old Jessie Craig Bromley, and he observed indicators of drug use.
Dani appeared lethargic, droopy, and overall unhealthy. Jessie appeared nervous and more shaky and seemed to be using stimulants. The deputy asked Dani if she was okay or needed an ambulance, since one had been called. She said she was okay, and the deputy asked her to step out to speak with him to ensure she was.
Dani began to exit, then reached for items near the center console and pushed them into her pocket. She continued to do this before finally exiting her vehicle. When she did exit, an orange needle cap fell from her lap onto the ground.
Cpl. Cox asked Dani if she had anything else on her person, and she said she had more in her pocket. Inside her pocket was a drawstring bag that contained 3 melted tutor pipes with drug residue. She had other items such as small cotton balls commonly used with illicit drugs, and a metal slide container that had burnt toil foil with residue, and a hypodermic syringe needle with about 2 grams of a liquid substance consistent with meth.
As the search continued, the deputy found in her pockets, as she was being placed under arrest, another small make-shift plastic bag that contained 2 grams of crystal meth. The deputy then placed Dani into his patrol vehicle and went to speak with Jessie.
Cpl. Cox went to the passenger-side door and asked Jessie to exit the vehicle. He told Jessie what was found on Dani's person and asked if he had anything illegal on him.
Jessie denied having anything to use, but then admitted that he had recently used. The deputy asked for consent to search him and his property, which he gave. When the deputy was searching his person next to the vehicle’s door, he observed another hypodermic syringe needle on the floorboard where he was seated with a liquid substance consistent with meth. Jessie denied it was his.
Jessie was detained in handcuffs while Cpl. Cox continued his search and found another needle shoved in between the seat and a broken spoon on the floor with burnt residue.
In the deputy’s probable cause search of the vehicle to locate any further illegal drug items. He found a blue bank deposit bag in the back seat. When the deputy opened it, he observed several checks and check stubs belonging to a livestock market company. He also found a check that appeared washed to write different information or money in the bag that was missing the person's name to "Pay to."
Cpl. Cox asked Jessie if the bag belonged to him. He said it did, but it was something that he found recently in Ballard. I asked about how long ago, but he said he wasn't sure. I asked where he found it, and he said somewhere near a place called "Peaks". He said that he was going to return it, but didn't get to it. Based on seeing all the items, new checkbooks, what appears to be washed checks, and several checks in other people's names, the deputy knew this to be consistent with check fraud.
The deputy located another case with the Uintah County Sheriff's Office and the Vernal City Police Department involving the business on the checks. There was a burglary in Ballard where several items, including checks, were stolen, and another case in Vernal City where checks belonging to the business were attempted to be cashed.
Cpl. Cox spoke with the business owner by phone, who told the deputy about the last check he had written. The deputy found the check stubs where he wrote the information for each check, and three more check stubs with no writing, and missing checks after his last confirmed written check, indicating Jessie was issuing checks that didn't belong to him in another person's name.
Jessie and Dani were informed that they were being placed under arrest and transported to the Duchesne County Jail.
Jessie Bromley was booked for possession of a controlled substance-meth, drug paraphernalia, forgery for possessing writing devices (Checks) belonging to another person, attempting to alter those documents to cash them, and possession of other identifying documents for the information included in the checks to cash them.
Dani Petty was booked for Possession of Controlled Substance-meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jessie is booked for possession of a controlled substance-meth, drug paraphernalia, forgery for possessing writing devices (Checks) belonging to another person, attempting to alter those documents to cash them, and possession of other identifying documents for the information included in the checks to cash them. Jessie also has more than 2 prior drug convictions in the past 7 years, making his current drug offense a felony.
