Two vehicles were traveling slowly from Hancock Cove onto Bluebell Road. Cpl. Cox later passed them on Bluebell Road.

Later, while the deputy was stationary in Bluebell when the two same vehicles came into his view. The second vehicle directly behind the first had its high beam lights on. Cpl. Cox initiated a traffic stop for failing to dim the headlights.

The deputy requested the driver's license, but the driver stated she didn't have it with her. She provided her driver's license number and name, which was identified as 43-year-old Shantell Marie Dansie.

While speaking with Shantell, the deputy noticed indicators of drug use that he believed to be from methamphetamines. Shantell spoke quickly, but her pupils were constricted, and her eyes darted from side to side.

Cpl. Cox asked Shantell if she uses any drugs. She told him that she doesn’t use drugs ever. She gave consent for the deputy to search her vehicle.

During the search, inside Shantell's purse was a black scale, and the scale had white powder residue consistent with methamphetamine. Also located were two torch lighters common with the use of drugs.

The deputy told Shantell that he was already finding things she claimed she didn't do. She asked him if he had found a scale with residue, and the deputy said that he had.

In the center console was an energy drink can. When picked up, the deputy could hear something rattling inside.

He shined his flashlight inside the can and saw a glass pipe commonly used for smoking meth.

The deputy asked her again about recent drug use, and she then admitted she used a couple of days ago.

The deputy showed Shantell the can and told her he could see a pipe inside. She claimed that it wasn't hers and said it was the friend who was driving the car ahead of her.

Cpl. Cox asked if she would like to call her friend to see if he would claim the pipe was his. Shantell stated that he probably wouldn’t, and she didn’t want to do that.

The deputy told her that the vehicle belonged to her and everything in the vehicle was in her possession, and advised that she was being placed under arrest for possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
