A Duchesne County Man Pleas Not Guilty To Assault and Domestic Violence Charges

(Duchesne County) On March 3^rd, 2025, Duchesne County Deputies were needed in the Neola area for a domestic violence incident.

The female reported that she and 41-year-old Morgan Jay Ivie had been arguing, and he had shoved and punched her in the face. She also reported that Morgan may be in the front yard, sitting in his truck with a gun.

Deputy Green arrived at the residence and saw Morgan sitting in his truck parked in the front yard. He placed Morgan in handcuffs and put him in the patrol vehicle for the officer's safety.

The deputy then met with the female who had a swollen bruise above her right cheek. She told the deputy she and Morgan had been arguing for the past few days, and this morning, when he came home from work, they continued to argue. Morgan grabbed his gun and walked outside.

The female claimed that she was concerned for Morgan's safety because he had been showing signs of depression. While she was outside next to his truck, he opened the door, and she was punched in the face. When the deputy asked how Morgan had hit her, she said she didn't remember, but when she walked into the house, she noticed a goose egg on her cheek, so she called the police.

There were two juveniles inside the home during the incident, and the yelling woke up one of them. He said he didn't see anything but was concerned when his mom walked into the house, saying that Morgan had hit her.

Deputy Green went to speak with Mr. Ivie, who said that he had come home from work when the arguing began. He told the deputy he was trying to leave the situation because he was tired from working all night.

Mr. Ivie explained that he was going to his parents' house to sleep. Deputy Green asked why he took a gun with him when he left. Morgan stated that he didn't want one of the juveniles to get hold of it for certain reasons. He then asked Morgan how the woman got the mark on her face. He denied anything physical between the two, as far as he recalls.

Upon reviewing the information gathered from the Victim and Morgan, it was determined by Deputy Green that Morgan Ivie was going to be placed under arrest for assault and two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child.

Morgan was then transported to the Duchesne County Jail, where he was booked in on the above charges.
