At 3:21 pm, an agency assist for warrant service with DCFS was performed at a residence in Duchesne County.
Upon arrival, Deputies with Duchesne County and DCFS Agents were greeted by 38-year-old Jeramiah Lemar Whiting, who stated he was the only person present on the property while he waited for two of his juvenile relatives to get home from school.
A copy of the warrant was shown and explained to Jeramiah, who welcomed the DCFS Agents to search the camper trailer he lives in. Jeremiah was asked where the juveniles stay while they wait for their parents to return home, and Jeramiah explained that the two stay with him in his residence.
While DCFS Agents were searching the residence in accordance with the warrant, a statewide warrant check was performed using Jeramiah's identification number. The warrant check resulted in the discovery of an active statewide warrant issued from the 8th District Court Vernal with a $500 Cash Bail only for Jeramiah.
While the search of the residence was being performed, DCFS and SGT Riley discussed with Jeramiah their findings of what appeared to be drug paraphernalia. Jeramiah stated that his homemade pipes and his scales were solely used for smoking tobacco, and there would be nothing else to find inside his residence.
As the search continued, a discovery of a crystal rock-like substance that resembled crystal meth was made.
Jeramiah was advised of his Miranda Rights, and he stated that he understood his rights and agreed to speak with the deputies.
Jeramiah was told of the discovery of Meth, and he stated he knew it was in there, but he didn't know whose it was. Jeramiah was told that having controlled substances in his residence where juveniles stay and play is wrong and dangerous and would be subject to new charges.
Jeramiah was taken into custody on the warrant, and it was explained that due to the discoveries of the search, he would be charged with the use or possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of endangerment of a child or vulnerable adult.
Jeramiah was transported to the Duchesne County Jail and booked in on his new charges and Outstanding Warrant.
The current offense is a felony, and there is substantial evidence to support the charge through clear and convincing evidence that would constitute a significant danger to any other individual or to the community or is likely to flee the jurisdiction of the court if released on bail.
