A single-vehicle accident occurred in the area of 168 West Main Street when the driver came to an abrupt stop when driving onto the sidewalk, wrapping his front bumper around a tree.
When police arrived, a male, later identified as 45-year-old Kevin Lee Bruce by his Arizona driver's license, was being treated by EMS.
On the ground next to the vehicle was a 24oz can of beer that had spilled into the gutter. Inside the car, in plain view, was an additional empty can of beer.
According to Kevin, a semi-truck had run him off the road, and when the officer asked if he had been drinking, he stated he had not drunk any alcohol.
After the Field Sobriety Tests, Officer Escobedo determined there was probable cause to arrest Kevin for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Kevin submitted to a PBT, which returned as a 0.105 BrAC (Breath Alcohol Content).
It was also discovered during the investigation that a pedestrian had been injured due to this accident. Kevin first collided with a construction zone traffic control device, which sent a large metal piece of the device into motion. This large piece of metal subsequently hit the pedestrian on the sidewalk. The pedestrian was treated on scene by EMS and transported to the hospital.
Kevin Bruce was arrested and transported to the Uintah County Jail.
Kevin Lee Bruce may post bail in the amount of $2,500.00.
