A couple returns home from the bar and gets into an altercation where the male gets his hand bitten

Vernal, Utah (5/30/2026)—A couple had gone out to the bar and consumed a large amount of alcohol, and when they returned home, an argument started.

When police arrived, they encountered the male outside the residence. According to the male, 26-year-old Bailee Lorraine Christensen became angry and told him to leave.

He told police that Bailee became physical, scratching him on the neck and then biting him on the hand. Officer Escobedo saw a large red mark on the male's left hand that had broken the skin in a curved pattern, consistent with a bite mark. The officer also observed scratch marks on the left side of the male's neck, consistent with fingernails.

While Officer Escobedo spoke with the female, he noticed she had a broken fingernail that was freshly bleeding. She also had a red stain on her right palm that looked like blood, but she claimed it was lip gloss.

According to Bailee, she and the male had gone to the bar and consumed a large amount of alcohol. She denied that anything physical had occurred between her and the male. When the officer told her that he observed the injuries on the male, Bailee claimed that their infant child was the one who bit him during dinner, and the scratches were due to the male having a job as a welder.

Officer Escobedo went to speak with the male to examine his injuries again. The bite marks on his hand did not appear to be consistent with Bailee's story and looked more substantial than what an infant could inflict on an adult.

Additionally, the officer observed injuries on the male that were from his job, and compared them to the fresh injuries on his neck. It was determined by the officer that the fresh injuries were not consistent with what Bailee had stated, but were consistent with what the male had told police.

Officer Escobedo determined there was probable cause to charge Bailee Christensen with assault and public intoxication. Bailee was placed under arrest, and she then submitted to a PBT, which provided a result of 0.217 BrAC.

Bailee Christensen was transported and booked into the Uintah County Jail.
