| Duchesne County | August 23rd, 2024 |

The Duchesne County Sheriff's Office received a DCSF CANR report for investigation. It was reported that the victim in this case was a 7-year-old child who had been kicked out of the house by her father, 39-year-old Joseph Michael Moore.

A Children's Justice Center interview was set up on the afternoon of August 23rd, 2024. The victim stated during the interview that Joseph had become angry when the victim would not pick up after her pet Gerbil that morning.

Joseph became angry and began striking the Gerbil cage with a hammer causing significant damage. The victim stated that Joseph picked up a chair and threw it towards the victim in who was in the bedroom sitting on the bed. The only reason it did not hit the victim is it struck the doorway first.

Joseph then told the child to pack all their belongings and get out of the house, telling the victim that anything left behind would be burned or thrown in the trash. The 7-year-old child was forced to move all their belongings into the garage and then contact their grandmother to come and pick her up.

The victim also disclosed that a few days prior to this incident, Joseph had become angry again and struck the victim with the back of his open hand in the mouth. After this happened, she could taste blood in her mouth, and the inside of her lip had been cut, possibly by the ring Joseph was wearing.

Joseph is currently on probation with AP&P, and on the evening of August 26th, 2024, Detective Hunter responded to Joseph's address in Bluebell, Utah, with his AP&P agent.

Detective Hunter explained the situation to Joseph and what the victim had disclosed during her interview. Joseph was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Duchesne County Jail.

The current offense is a felony committed while on probation or parole, or while free on bail awaiting trial on a previous felony charge. The court finds substantial evidence to support the current felony charge.

Therefore, the court orders that Joseph Michael Moore is to be held without bail.
